Home School

Home school students today are taught at an early age through high school – and in some cases – even PAST high school! A popular path to earn college credit while homeschooling is through credit by examination, or testing out of college courses. This is especially popular at the high school level. Credit by examination allows students to earn college credit when they have achieved the knowledge of a college level course in a particular subject and can demonstrate that by passing a standardized exam. The 3 most popular types of exams that can be taken for college credit and are available in a variety of subjects are:

  • CLEP – College Level Examination Program
  • DSST – Previously DANTES Subject Standardized Tests
  • ECE – Excelsior College Examinations

There are over 2,900 colleges and universities that now allow this type of earned credit to be transferred into a degree program. Standardized exams do not have an age limit. It is not unusual to see 14 or 15 year old kids taking and passing standardized exams. Knowledge2College’s courses are a great way to prepare for the standardized exams so students can earn college credit while homeschooling. Dual enrollment and Advanced Placement courses (also known as AP courses) are an option for home school students, but these tend to have a lot more red tape than testing out for college credit.
